About Panama

Located in the southeastern part of Central America, Panama is positioned along the coasts of the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, bordered by Colombia and Costa Rica. Panama is one of the wealthiest countries in Central America and home to a diverse range of ethnic groups.
Among the groups living in Panama are Mestizos, Panamanian Indians, White Latin Americans, and Asian Latin Americans. Although Spanish is the official language, English is widely spoken in the country. Most Panamanians are Christians, while the remaining population includes Muslims and followers of indigenous tribal religions.
The city that serves as the capital of Panama bears the same name as the country, known as Panama City. Around one-third of the country's population resides in this city. Panama City is a metropolis with skyscrapers and a tropical vibe, thanks to its proximity to rainforests. Moreover, it is home to the Panama Canal, which connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. The Panama Canal is the world's largest artificial canal, stretching for 65 kilometers from one coast to the other, and it contributes a third of the country's economy.
Bocas del Toro is a popular tourist destination due to its enchanting natural beauty. The country hosts some of the most stunning natural wonders on Earth. However, it is recommended to visit outside the period from May to January since the country experiences continuous rainfall during this time. In addition to the Panama Canal, Panama City, and Bocas del Toro, it is advised to visit the Bridge of the Americas and Ancon Hill. Historical sites like Panama Viejo and Casco Viejo are also must-visit places in the country.
Panama has a rich culinary tradition, with rice playing a central role in many dishes. As one of the world's major banana producers, Panama incorporates many exotic fruits in different desserts. Fried bananas are often served as a snack with every meal. You can also savor a variety of seafood dishes, such as marinated octopus and ceviche, a fish dish prepared with lime and onions, among the country's unique flavors.
The official currency used in Panama is the Panamanian Balboa (PAB), but the American Dollar is also commonly used in the country.
