A large portion of the tobacco planted along the Arda River is also stored in this city. Kardjali Regional History Museum, one of the largest museums in southern Bulgaria, consists of approximately 40,000 exhibitions, including the ruins of Perperikon and Tatul. In this city where the train station is located, the roads extend to Hasköy and Komotini. The city has a soft, rainy Mediterranean transition climate, with many sunny days during the year. Kardjali Airport is closed to domestic and international flights. The city can be reached from Plovdiv or Sofia International Airports.
