About Virgin Islands-United States

The American Virgin Islands, situated in the Caribbean Sea, form an archipelago that is part of the United States. The islands, with Charlotte Amalie as their capital, have English as their official language. It is estimated that the Arawak Natives were the first settlers to arrive at these islands, located quite a distance away from continents and other land masses in the Atlantic Ocean.
The islands, famously discovered by explorer Christopher Columbus, were initially referred to as "Santa Ursula y las Once Mil Virgines." In the past, the islands were ruled by pirates for a while, then came under the control of the Spanish, French, and later the Knights of Malta. In subsequent periods, becoming a center for sugarcane and rum production where slaves were employed, the islands were purchased by the United States for 25 million US dollars.
With a population of approximately 110,000, these islands, part of the Greater Antilles, consist mainly of Black individuals, with the remainder being of Puerto Rican origin. The primary source of income for the American Virgin Islands is tourism. The magnificent beaches along the coasts attract tourists from the United States and nearby countries every year. Other major sources of income in the country include the pharmaceutical industry, chemicals, and textiles. Additionally, the islands host one of the world's largest oil refineries. Agricultural production is not sufficient in the country, and many agricultural products are imported from abroad.
The climate in the American Virgin Islands is hot throughout the year, and at times, it can be quite oppressive. The average temperature on the islands ranges between 27-32 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Nights generally have lower temperatures, and thermometers can show 7-8 degrees Celsius during some periods. However, the islands experience a consistently mild and temperate climate almost throughout all seasons.
Thanks to its warm and sunny climate year-round, the American Virgin Islands are an attractive destination for visitors almost any time of the year. With its dazzling sea displaying white sands and various shades of blue, the islands offer an opportunity to fully enjoy the sun and sea.
Moreover, the islands are an extremely ideal destination for honeymoon couples seeking a romantic getaway and adventurous visitors eager to enjoy water sports. During your stay on the islands, you can surf, dive into the depths of the blue world, and savor delicious fish, seafood, and tropical fruits.
