About Innsbruck

Innsbruck, the capital of Troll in Austria, is surrounded by the high mountains where winter sports events are held.  The city, which hosted Winter Olympics in 1964 and in 1976, is also known as the city that hosted the first Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2012. Innsbruck, which is located in the heart of Austria, has a continental climate and a cool weather prevails throughout the year. The period between May and September is the best time to visit the city, which is relatively warmer in the summer months.

Transportation to Innsbruck City Center from Airport

You can take the train from Innsbruck Airport to get to Innsbruck city centre, which is 4km away from the airport. In addition you can also use the taxis that are available outside the terminal 24/7. Another option is to rent a car and go comfortably to the city centre. Regardless of what transport option you use, it will take a maximum of 15 minutes to get to Innsbruck city centre from the airport.

Train

It’s both practical and economic to take one of the trains operated by Austrian Railways (ÖBB) to central Innsbruck from Innsbruck Airport. You can reach Mitterweg/Unterführung and Innsbruck Westbahnhof’a (Egger-Lienz-Sraße) with the train that you take from the station just outside of the terminal building. The trains that leave every half an hour from Innsbruck Airport take approximately 10 minutes to reach central Innsbruck. As of 2017, the price for a single one-way ticket is between 4 and 7 euro. If you call Austrian Railways ahead of your flight then you can reserve a seat for a reduced price and learn up to date departure times.

Bus

Taking the bus is without a doubt the most economic way to reach central Innsbruck from Innsbruck Airport. Some of the bus stops for the buses that leave every minutes from the airport are as follows: Uni-Sportstätten, Steinbockweg, Fischerhäuslweg, Angergasse, Exlgasse, Bachlechnerstraße, Unterbergerstraße and Triumphpforte (Leopoldstraße), which is the last stop. The price for a ticket on the F line bus that will take you to Innsbruck city centre in around 13 to 20 minutes from the airport is only 4 euro.
