About Cleveland Hopkins Intl. Airport

Hopkins International Airport was founded in 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio for the transportation of mail and cargo and soon after was opened to civil flights. The airport is named after William R. Hopkins, who was the founder of the airport, which made great innovations. It is where America's first air traffic control tower, radio control system and airfield lighting system were first installed. Thanks to these first innovations, Hopkins International Airport, has a special place in American aviation history, and in 1968 managed to become the first American airport to connect to a rail transit system. Hopkins International Airport welcomes its passengers with its large terminal building which has 4 concourse sections.  Every year nine million passengers use the airport which operates flights to more than 50 destinations.
