About Antsohihy
Antsohihy is one of the cities within the Mahajanga district of northern Madagascar in the Sofia Region, located on an island of the the east of Africa. It is one of the most interesting local architecture cities in the country. Some streets in the city from the start until the end have the same type of design of log houses which have a high and steeply sloped roof made with brushwood, in a similar style to Swiss chalets. One of the natural parks and national parks in the country is located in Antsohihy.
There are special types of creatures such as raccoon, chimpanzee and vultures in the wildlife reserve called the Bora Reserve. Tourists visit this area to see the rock structures which are similar to fairy chimneys. Other than tourism, argiculture is a source of income for the city, which is built around the Sofia River called Ambavan Antsohihy. The products of the city are tropical grown products specific to the island, aswell as river fishing, which is mostly consumed in local markets and bazaars.
Antsohihy is located in the north of Madagascar and also has an airport. Ambalabe Airport is located in the south of the city and is open to local flights. The distance of the airport to the city center is 2.5 kilometers.
