Transportation to Airport from Luanda City Center
Quatro de Fevereiro Airport
You can take a taxi to from Luanda city center to go to the Quatro de Fevereiro Airport. If you prefer a cheaper transportation vehicle, there are several different buses operated by both state and private companies. Renting a car is another alternative.
Car Rental
In the city center you can find both world-renowned and local companies. You should remember that renting a car in Luanda is more expensive than usual. In general, the daily cost of a standard car rental starts at 330 Turkish liras. You can reach the Quatro de Fevereiro Airport in about 30 minutes by connecting to the Deolinda Rodrigues Road, following the airport signs, with the car you rent.
Taxi
You will not have any problems finding a taxi in the city center. Almost every taxi can be paid in US dollars as well as Kwanza, the local currency. It takes less than half an hour to reach the airport by taxi from the city center under normal conditions.
Bus
A large number of bus lines departing from the city center and from different points of the city go to Quatro de Fevereiro Airport. You can find out the bus line you should use and its stops from your hotel or from the Tourist Information Center.

Since most of the roads are not paved, even if you do not enter the desert, you have to pass through the dune roads. For this reason, 4x4 style vehicles are the most preferred. It is recommended that you choose an international car rental company instead of local companies. You may encounter stolen cars with European plates at local companies and you may have problems later. Speaking French would help you in the city. However, if you have an information form that you have prepared beforehand, you can get over these checks easier. Nouakchott International Airport is just 4 kilometers from the city center. There is no public transport service from the airport to the city center. However, you can reach the city center quickly and easily by taxi or renting a car.

Approximately 3.5 kilometers after taking the N1 road at the airport exit, you will encounter a turn. Here you should take the N3 road at the west direction of the turn and follow the city center sign. After about 400 meters you can reach the city center. The journey takes about 10 minutes.
