Transportation to Airport from Bangkok City Center

Don Mueang Intl. Airport

Thailand’s capital Bangkok is one of the most important tourist destinations in the Asian continent. The city, which hosted over 25 million tourists last year, has 2 airports. The Suvarnabhumi International Airport opened for international travel in 2006. The city’s first airport, Don Mueang International Airport, is a regional commuter flight hub and low-cost airline hub.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport handles the largest amount of international passengers entering the city, handling over 53 million passengers in 2012. Bangkok is a city with a population of 8 million. Like other South Asian countries, transportation within the city can be chaotic. However, transportation to and from the airport is extremely advanced and comfortable.

Rail

You can take buses 201 and 503 from the Royal Palace, National Museum, and Phara Nakhon, the historic city center, to Phaya Thai Station. From this station you can get to the airport in 17 minutes.

You can also get on the express line at Makkasan Station. Other lines take about 30 minutes to get to the airport.

Airport Services

There are vehicles that depart from Victory Monument, which is one of the busiest transportation hubs in the city, to the airport every 20 minutes. You can get to the airport using luxury minibuses or buses where you need to connect or transfer in between. Minibuses 550 and 551 will take you directly to the airport. The city of Bangkok experiences extremely hot temperatures and these vehicles were designed taking that fact into consideration. These vehicles are all air-conditioned, providing comfortable transportation for tourists.    

Personal Car

From the historic city center (Phara Nakhon) take the Nakhon Sawan or Lan Luang bridges and connect to the Sirat Expressway, which has a toll. From here you need to take Motorway 7, which connects directly to the airport. After reaching the airport you can park your vehicle in one of the three parking lots, which have a total car park capacity of 5 thousand vehicles.

Tabuk Regional Airport or Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport (IATA: TUU) is located on King Abdulaziz Road, and formerly it was a military airport. This airport has one terminal which serves both domestic and international destinations. Although Tabuk Regional Airport is an international airport, it serves limited international destinations in general. Facilities like a mosque, coffee and gift shops, check-in and ticketing desks, and rental car counters are available inside and nearby Tabuk Regional Airport.

Taxi

Taxis are the most popular method of transportation in Tabuk as there are no public buses or airport shuttle services from Tabuk Regional Airport to Tabuk city center. Tabuk Regional Airport is around 10 minutes from the city center, which makes it easily accessible, easy to find taxis and relatively affordable prices. Although the prices may vary, they generally start from 15 USD but in some cases, additional fees can be applied for baggage. Different pricing policies are applied in Tabuk, such as higher rates at night or on Sundays. Also, you can use Uber as well.

Rental Car

Rental Cars are another comfortable option for transportation from Tabuk Regional Airport to the city center. There are several counters at the airport where you can rent a car, and almost all of them are open 24/7.  The prices depend on the type of car, how many days you are planning to rent, etc. Generally, non-luxury cars’ daily rental prices start from SAR 170 which is roughly 45 USD.

Hotel Shuttles

In terms of transportation, especially when you are traveling in larger groups, hotel shuttles are the easiest way to commute in Tabuk city center. When booking hotels, you can search and/or ask for shuttles to pick you up from Tabuk Regional Airport. The prices may vary, some services being free of charge while some hotels apply fees for extra services.
